Astigmatism is a common eye condition which causes fuzzy or blurred vision. This eye condition often occurs when the cornea is irregularly shaped. The irregularity in the cornea may be as a result of the curvature of the lens inside the eye.

Patients with astigmatism may not be able to wear regular contact lenses. Instead, they will need specially designed contact lenses. These contact lenses used for correcting astigmatism are referred to as toric contact lenses.

Toric contact lenses feature two prescriptions. While one prescription helps in correcting astigmatism, the other will correct near or farsightedness.
